When to merge PDFs
Many applications ask for a single file: a job application with your CV, cover letter and certificates, a visa form with scanned supporting documents, or an expense claim with all your receipts. Merging also makes it easier for the recipient to read and print everything in order.
Merge PDFs in three steps
- Open Merge PDF on FreeTools Hub.
- Add two or more PDF files. Use the arrow buttons to put them in the right order; the page count of each file is shown.
- Press Merge and download the combined PDF.
Your files stay on your device
Unlike many online services, FreeTools Hub merges PDFs directly in your browser. The files are never uploaded, so confidential documents stay private, and the merge is instant even on slow connections.
Fix the result after merging
- Remove blank or duplicate pages with PDF Page Tools → Delete.
- Rotate sideways scans with PDF Page Tools → Rotate.
- Change the order of individual pages with PDF Page Tools → Reorder.
- Make the merged file smaller with Compress PDF.
Tips for a professional result
- Put the most important document first — reviewers often read only the first pages.
- Use consistent page sizes; scan paper documents at A4 or Letter so pages line up.
- Name the merged file clearly, for example “Surname-Application-2026.pdf”.
- Check the final page count matches the total of the individual files.
- Keep the merged file under the portal’s size limit by compressing it before upload.
On a phone
Merge PDF works in Safari, Chrome and Samsung Internet. Tap the upload area, choose files from Files, Downloads or Google Drive, and download the merged PDF to your phone. Because files are not uploaded, it also works on slow mobile connections.
Why merge in the browser?
Many free merge services upload your documents to their servers. Merging in the browser keeps contracts, ID documents and medical records on your own device, removes waiting time for uploads and downloads, and works even on a slow connection. The merged file is created instantly on your computer or phone.
Merging photos and PDFs together
If some of your documents are photos (JPG or PNG), first turn them into a PDF with JPG to PDF, then merge that PDF with the others.
